VOX PENINSULA CHOIR

WE LOVE TO SING!

ABOUT US

VOX Peninsula was founded in 2023 by a group of chorister friends in the Mornington Peninsula.  They were looking for an opportunity to sing classical music in a choir which had an important emphasis on social enjoyment and friendship.  Jill Linley was the introductory conductor and along with accompanist  Heather Wickes brought all voices and ages together for a first concert . Then in 2024 Jill handed the baton over to the steady trained hands of Ruper Balint Smith.  VOX Peninsula has a goal of providing opportunities for youth.

VOX Peninsula’s first concert ‘Tis the Season was held at Christmas 2023 in the Mornington Pavilion and The Anglican church of Balnarring. Both performances were accompanied by the thunderous applause and lightning flashes of summer storms. Christmas 2024 was less torrid and held at the Uniting Church Rosebud and The Anglican Church of Mt Eliza.  In May and June 2024 the VOX performance of Venice to Vienna and Songs of Peace was the first concert held at the wonderful Flinders Community Hub and also at the Anglican Church of Mt Eliza. La Vie en Rose was a midyear, love through song, celebration – again in Mt Eliza. 2025 brought 4 concerts – Gloria Festiva with Vivaldi and John Leavitt in the Mt Eliza Uniting Church and The Flinders Hall and Christmas Tis the Season at   Mt Eliza Uniting church and St John’s Church Flinders with Benjamin Brittens’ A Ceremony of Carols and Haydn’s St Nicholas’ Mass.

We have great local sponsors. A development grant from Mornington Peninsula Shire starting Dec 24,  Bendigo Bank Balnarring, gold level sponsorship from Intend Financial Mornington, Marshall White Flinders and Mt Eliza and Linden’s Meats Karingal.

And benefitting from our performances have been Grandmothers for Refugees, Frankston Winter Shelter, Westernport Community Support.
